I have been doing some research on the internet about embedded photographers and how they get there for a little while now with very little results. I was hoping that someone here knows. I know some of the photogs are hired by places like Associated Press or specific publications, but is that everyone who is in a conflict zone or other locations?

For example, Diane Fosse was a volunteer, she had no qualifications for the work she did, but it was difficult work and not a lot of people would volunteer for it. Is it the same for certain photogs?

This isn't work that Im looking to do myself, but I respect the people who do and wonder what it takes to get there.

Any insight would be nice.
