You've never met anyone who lived in a college dormitory? How about the live-in faculty of a boarding school?
P.S. I'm not taking a side. I'm rather conflicted on the issue as the pacifist daughter of a cop and as someone who earns some of her income from selling gun cleaning supplies. The issue is extremely complicated. I justify my business with the knowledge that the buyer is a police supply catalog whose main clientele is Chicago police officers and that I'm therefore supporting law enforcement - about which I have NO reservations at all -and leave the civilian gun debate to people with opinions that aren't so well-muddied.

Like I said: Personally, I wouldn't live somewhere that limited my ability to protect myself or violated my Constitutional Rights much less pay them to do so.
Everyone shouldn't own a gun. Demonstarted common sense should be the minimum requirement for owning a firearm of any type. I also think everyone wanting to own a firearm should be required to take a gun safety course regardless of what year you were born in or how well you think you can handle a gun. |
They are not violating your Constitutional Rights - what they can say is that if you want to live here you have to sign this lease - the lease can say no gun - You want to live there then you have to agree that you will not have a gun - very simple - just like any other contract that you agree to - you have the right not to agree to it. If you don't like those rules then you need to get the state/federals to say that no one can enforce that clause in housing contract. |
