I am shopping around some of the microstock sites looking for interesting vector images to use as the base logo for our youth group ministries at church. There is extra info regarding the editing of vector images
"This is a vector illustration and requires vector editing software, such as Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand, to edit this file."
Does anyone have any experience in using vector images? I basically just want to be able to resize and add text to the image but I am not sure if I need to purchase eitehr of those programs to do this or if I can just do this in PS. Anybody familiar with this? |

You can do it in PS, no problem.

This is correct, but you have to remember that the vector file, when opened in Photoshop will be rasterized into a pixel-based bitmap type file. It will no longer be infinitely scalable, but if this is not something that you need, then Photoshop should work fine for you. |

| Is there a program out there that would allow me to upscale it without me having to drop the huge bucks for illustrator? Would anyone know the earliest version of illustrator that could b eused? |

Send me the file and I'll scale it for you in CorelDraw. That's one way. Or you can go to //www.inkscape.org/ and download a free vector editing program :-)

| If you have Photoshop and are going to upgrade to the newest version, you might consider going ahead and getting the whole Creative Suite, which also gives you Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat for only about double the price. If you or anyone in your houshold is a student you may qualify for Adobe's Educational pricing -- about half retail. |
