Children always fascinates me. My trip to one country is not complete until I have taken portraits of children that I don't know. I like to capture the look of innocence in their eyes and their exuberance and free-spirit. Here are some of my pre-DPChallenge portraits of kids from places that I've been to. Please give me some comments about these pictures. I don't mind any kind of criticism.
a daughter of one of a Boracay-based artist
A participant in a procession in Bali. I was running back and forth like crazy to take this shot.
Taken at Djemma el Fna in Marakkesh, Morocco. One of the wiggling-head entertainers.
A son of a fruit vendor in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. The background is another picture to put him within the context.
All of these pictures are in my portfolio/profile page.
I look forward to your comments and I will be back for more portraits. And BTW, how do I sell DPC prints. I try to read the instructions but I wasn't able to POST them. They are still in my workshop folder. Thanks.

Wrong description. The Bali and the Morocco pics are interchanged. |

I like those ... I think you've conveyed some sense of their personalities as individuals. Good lighting job, too.
For prints, put the JPEGS into some other folder (you can make one) in your Portfolio; they are not publicly browsable when in the Workshop folder.
Next, for each picture, click on it to go to the image details page. Way at the bottom is a link to upload the printable file. After you've done that, go back to the details page, and you should now have a link to "sell this photo" where you can submit it for approval (they are all checked for resolution, image quality, artifacts, etc.). Once it's approved (usually 24-48 hours) you will have a link to set prices and "activate" the prints.
Note that if you just want to print the image for yourself, you still need to upload the file, but don't have to submit it for approval, and you can order it at any size, regardless of resolution. |

VERY nice! Would love to have seen specific photo information on them, though - (Aperture/Shutter/ISO).

Wonderful images!
How well you can take portraits of children already showed well in the Simplicity challenge.
How do you do it to make the children look natural? Our daughter always smiles too much, so she does not look natural at all.

I am a point and shoot person. Because of the digital camera, I can take as much picture as I want to. Usually, what turn out well are the shots that are candid. When I shoot, I count but I usually press before "three". In the pictures that I posted (not the ones for the challenges), I used a lot of PS to manipulate the lighting but it isn't much difference except that it higlights the spot you want to focus. |
