I sorta just took this shot while walking along with a friend while we were out and about Downtown Orlando doing some building shots. I loved the composition of it so decided to process it and share it to my friends on the web :P
Large Version - 1200x891 @ 261KB
Model : Canon EOS 10D
ISOSpeedRatings : 400
ShutterSpeedValue : 1/400Sec
ApertureValue : F5.6
ExposureBiasValue : EV0.0
FocalLength : 53.00(mm)
PS Processing: USM, Channel mixed to monochrome the area around the leaf, Overlay of full color layer on top of the monochromed layer. Slight saturation/contrast boasts, and finally rotated a bit to make it line up better.

excellent - love the texture/detail on the ground and appreciate the contrast between nature and manmade elements. :D |

Wonderful. A perfect application of this effect. The simplicty of this shot makes it stunning. The contrast of the leaf against the stone is remarkable, as is the amount of detail you managed to capture, especially texture, I can almost feeling the juxtaposition of the smooth leaf and rough stone! You did an excellent job converting to B&W, the contrast is just right, as is the saturation in the leaf!
This is a shot I would buy a print of. Congratulations, it's a beautiful piece of photographic work!

That's a great shot. I love the composition. The colors are really nice. The lack of color on the bricks makes the leaf stand out.

i second the idea that if i were to buy a print (still haven't gotten around to purchasing any), this would be one of them. i looked through your photo directory a bit on that site.. you should post them in your portfolio here - a nice collection of images.
edit: just looked again and noticed prints are sold on your site. just kind of wish there was a smaller size or something ($25 is too much for an unemployed college student!)

Thanks everyone!! Great to hear all your compliments :D
It will be available for print by tomorrow (via my site) if anyone is interested (wink wink nudge nudge).
And yes, the prices are rather high and they will be dropped probably to around $10 for the 8.5x11, $15 for the 11.7x16.5, and $20 for the 13x19... so just email me (michaelsnead@deuterium.cc) if the prices are still at the larger values and you'd like a print. I have to hand edit every image in notepad to change the paypal and store links, so it'll be a few days before everything is updated :)
Thank you again for everyone's kind words... means a lot to a learning photo hobbit!

Nice shot. Speaking of Timeless what do you all think of this one? A Piano roll from 1917

thanks AA.. and tom, I like the piano roll... but for some reason, i think i'd like the sepia toning to be a bit stronger - it's a good thought, but i think "stronger" sepia (higher contrast? i don't know) might add some more character to it. |
