I'm creating my own webalbum and I want to know if you have some ideas what I should let the websystem do.
The basic things that the system does is:
1. Takes all images from a spesified direction, shrink them into a thumbnail and a image around 600pixel on width (or height for portrait) and copy the orginal file into the same folder as the shrinked one.
2. Keeps track of all the images in a database.
3. I can put keyword on every single image and organize it into photoalbums for a quick search.
4. Stamp the shrinked image if somebody copys the images then my name is on it.
5. Can give me all EXIF information for every picture.
6. Every image has a permission field so I can deside if everybody can see the image or just a few that I deside.
What do you think it would be good idea to add into this websystem I'm programming.
I run this on a Intel p4 2.4GHz, 120 GB hard drive, 512 memory so I have enogh space for all my 60.000 photos.
I'm thinking of making it a multi-language so the user can choise what the language are used. But I will not do that until I have finnished the first version. |

customize the layout ( ie colors, borders, fonts, headings, how many viewed per page )
be able to scroll through the large versions from the current large version.
add descriptions ( captions ) to the large versions.
just a couple quick thoughts - what are you prgramming in?

I'm programming in PHP, use MySQL as a database, run this on FreeBSD and Apache.
The owner of the image can see orginal copy of the image (because of a copyright) but the others can see 640x400 ... maybe I will make that a 2 version ... 640 and 1200 ???
I forgott putting a description in the system. Thank you.
You can give the image a title.
Another thing I forgott was making visitors able to comment on images. I have now put that down on paper :) |
