I am having difficulty with one aspect of voting on the Open Challenge "On the Edge".
After finishing voting on all of the images, the page that displays all of the thumbnails and their ratings from highest to lowest appears. However, in the header it says:
You have rated 169 of 176 images in this challenge.
My question is, where are the missing seven photos? When I look at all of the pages every thumbnail shows a rating, and the number of thumbnails is indeed 169. Are photos that are DQ'd or something still showing in the total, but otherwise removed from the site?
Thanks all,
Rich. |

That is most likely what happened. It is showing the same thing for me.

Why aren't those numbers updated as DQs happen? Those numbers still being present also fowl up the Percentile section in the user profiles. Seems like it should be a pretty easy thing to adjust and would reduce confusion. IMO if something was DQed it should no longer be considered an entry and be removed from the numbers for that challenge.

I understand your point, and don't necessarily disagree. But perhaps what is happening is that the images that are dq'ed are being put at the back of the pack, finishing in last place. No matter how poor your entry, you are being given credit for following the rules, and placing ahead of those who didn't. I can live with it. |

There is some value to knowing the total number of entries submitted, not just the number of "finishers." Rather than having to re-code the site, I'd rather people just submit valid entries ... |

I agree. I noticed there are extra checks on the submissions page. Is this in response to recent DQ's?

Right ... we are tired of people trying to "plead innocence" of the rules they certify they've read, so we decided to make it more obvious.
I'd rather people just submitted valid entries though ... |

Not enough, apparently. |

This would be fine but I think the photos that were DQed should still show up at the end of the results but maybe with a DQ Icon or something showing which photos were DQed and the reason why. This would also be a public display of who is being DQed and why. This is a good idea I think. What do you guys think. I just think if it says 160 entries, I should be able to see 160 pictures DQed or not.

I understand. Hopefully others will see this thread and pick up on why the numbers don't necessarily match.
I wonder if it might be a good idea to simply add a line of text indicating that the total number of rated images may not match the total number of images submitted. I dunno.. then again that may be more confusing than it is worth.
At any rate, thanks to everyone for the replies.
