Can some one give me an idea of when to use which setting for the IS on my 70-200 2.8 IS telephoto lens, thus far I have had it on setting 2 when I have had it on and the pictures seem less than sharp when I am shooting.
Thanks for the help.

I don't have one myself, but you should be using Mode 1. Mode 2 is the panning mode, and only stabilises the vertical direction. Mode 1 corrects both directions.
This is a common question. They should rename them FULL and PAN, or something like that to remove confusion.

Yup, leave it in mode 1 most of the time, infact I dont really see an issue with leaving it in mode 1 during panning, never seems to affect my shots.
One thing to be aware of, this lens take a while to `get used` to. THat doesnt really make sense I know, but I think the natural tendancy with any IS lens (if you have never used IS before) is to try and compensate the movement yourself. Once you get used to letting the lens do the work, you shots will come out much sharper..
Or maybe that was just me. |

Cool Guys thanks to you both. I will switch it onto the setting #1. One more question, when I have a high shutter speed, ex. 1/400 is it ok still to be shooting with the IS on?
Thanks

yeah of course, I leave mione on all the time.
remeber it can drain your batteries though, more noticable if you dont have a battery grip. |

How did you adapt that to the Fisher Price camera? LOL
Did it come with a manual? Consider reading it sometime. It's more accurate info than you might find on the net, and more thourough too.

I machined a housing adapter to my fisher price camera to have it work with it, we engineers can make anything work.
Rich
I will read the manual eventually, just wanted to start playing with it now.
Thanks
