Personally I think photorealism painting is very cool, but I find it disappointing that it's so rarely used to create completely original works as oppossed to just duplicating a photograph.
Incredible skill on their part. |

The reason photography does not qualify as art is that the process removes the filter of the human mind as an interpretative element. Although photography requires technical skill, in the final analysis it is only a mechanical recording of reality.
I just simply disagree on so many levels. I don't know where to begin. However, the painting is way cool! |

All I know is that it takes some serious skills. I think it is genius to be able to recreate something like that. |

I may be wrong, but I really find this hard to believe that it's a painting. If you look at the finished, large picture, at the hair, it almost looks like there is purple fringing right by the cheek.... |

I think that is coming from the digital image of the final painting. even a scanner is a more different camera, and have the same downfalls.

Actually the artist says that he liked to artifacts created by the digital camera and decided to keep them in the painting. How convenient ;-)
