I keep hearing loads of old lenses work great on today's SLRs.
But how far back has Nikon used its current mount?
For example, would this Nikkor 80-200 f/4.5 MF lens work on my D200? And can anyone recommend Web sites that feature this kind of info?

The bayonet mount will fit, but it won't connect to your camera electronics at all. You'll be stopping it down by hand and it won't autofocus of course. It wouldn't be any good for action, 'cuz you'll need to manually focus wide open then stop down manually to shoot, at which point you viewfinder will go dark on you. I actually used to have that lens, back in my film days. I liked it a lot.
