I have been offered an increadable opportunity from a local home school co-op. They are offering a chance to take the school pictures for their students in Sept. My problem is that I need to send them a presentation to seal the deal. What kind should I send. Is it different from a portfolio or is that basicaly what they want. This opportunity came up because they normally use Lifetouch and had a horrible experience with them this past year. I want to be able to show them that I'm a professional and organized studio, but I'm not too entirely sure how to display that. Please help with any advice you may have.

Well, I'm not too entirely sure either, but maybe look at it from their point of view.

If you were interviewing a potential photographer for your school, what would YOU expect to see? I think I would want to see the styles available and samples of the quality of work, be it in a formal portfolio or even a brochure, in addition, some shots of where the studio is and it's layout, with a safe environment being an important factor, plus some additional information such as insurance papers, testimonials, samples of other client-based works, etc.

I would be less impressed with someone that fit into a cookie-cutter, industry-standard, expected xerox copy of what every other potential interviewee showed me during an interview, and would probably be refreshing to meet someone confidant and with a passion for what they do.

Selling yourself is easy if you believe in yourself and what you have to offer.
