I am not sure but I get the feeling that there is an overload of challenges, picture to vote for, and pictures submitted (and I'm not even sure what is DPL).
In all recent challenges there were more pictures submitted (sometimes more then twice as many) then votes (and views)on the top pictures (let alone the back runners).
in the Double Take challenge there are 383 pictures submitted, and at the moment my pic stands on - Votes: 94 - Views:164 and that is 4 days into the challenge (there were times when I had more then 100 votes on the first day of the challenge)
the fact is that there are many people who submit pictures and not only that they don't vote, they don't even bother looking at the other pics.
maybe its time to force people who submit to one of the challenges during the week to vote on at least one of the challenges during that week or otherwise their pictures will be DQ and removed?
I hope I didn't start a thread on a subject that has been chewed over and over.

Therein lies the problem. DPL has sort of 'upped the anty' for DPC participants. More people are actively submitting and when that happens, some people may vote less. |

At 383 pictures, can you blame anyone? I don't want to see restrictions, but past 150 submissions voting starts taking serious time and some serious eye blur... :)

You have 7 days. Voting a few each day eliminates the tedium. :)

Or do like alot of others around, quit voting.

I have finally grasped the nettle and started to submit to challenges (having a decent camera helps).
I now have 6 challenges under my belt and when I have submitted I feel morally obliged to vote for all the others or else what is the point?
I may not comment but I do vote!

Yeah, quitting is a great idea. Way to help the site. :/

what people do not realize is that there are still a good enough amount of votes being cast to where statistically the best images are still on the front page. not once can i look back and disagree with the top 20 being good images.
we can gripe all we want to, but cast your vote, and that's literally all you can do. the rest is up to the others. it'd be nice to have a 1:1 ratio on votes / submissions, but once again...statistically the votes put the top images at the top.

your right Jon, in fact it seems like after about 25 - 30 votes your score is pretty well set, you can hope and pray but the likelihood of it changing much is slight. that's not to say we shouldn't encourage voting and commenting (i just finished the Free Study w 200+ comments - that took a lot of time Im not sure if i'll get to the other current challenges).
In this case, I agree with Oded, perhaps we need a mid-season break - sort of an all-star break like the baseball players get :p
