How do I test a new lens to ensure that I have a good copy. I'm thinking some here would know how to do this best.

Checking the following:
Canon 70-200 f/4 is usm
Canon 10-22mm usm
60mm macro usm

Your advice greatly appreciated.

One way is to go take some photos with those lenses then post them here.

Send them to me, I'll do a complete 5 year test of them all and give you the results after that.

But seriously...Do a focus test (google it if you need to). That will be the real thing you can measure on your own. As far as sharpness and quality goes, you should be able to tell right away.

Check sample pictures at PhotoZone to see how your lens compares.
