For some reason PS 7 won;t let me save shots in jpeg or anything else just PSD and raw. FOur options instead of the many from before. Any thoughs on what the problem might be?

Try flattening the layers. Or making sure that the image is in RGB.

Try changing the mode of your pic. Image>Mode> check what your image is. ..it might be in lab format. Change it to RGB

go to file/save optimized as.. and you can do jpg or gif w/ many quality/transperency settings.
this way you dont have to mess w/ the .psd (wont have to flatten or change to RGB or anything).

I, too, have experienced this problem. But for me, the answer was in the fact that I had scanned the image from my flat bed or film scanner and had the ingest at 16-bit per channel, rather than at 8-bit per channel. Look to see if the 16-bit mode is slected. If it is, then go to the Image/Mode/8-bit/channel and then click on it. For me, this resolves the problem and I am then able to save the file with various 8-bit file formats.
