Today I made my first attempt at zoom exposure. While I think it's quite cute, I know that technically it's all wrong. Aside from zooming more smoothly, can anyone offer me any advice on how to do it properly - what is a suitable shutter speed, for example?

Well for one thing anf i mean it looks good having the eye as the subject. The center is gonna be the clearest always. So make sure you have your subject where you want it. Also the size of the "circle of clarity" is gonna be based on How far your zooming in. So play and plan with that.
