here's the issue,
when i connect the camera to the computer it asks me each time "please choose which application should receive the image" so then i select zoom browser and sometimes it loads and sometimes it doesn't do anything. what up wit dat???????
when i double click the zoom browser icon nothing happens??????
also, the manual says i need windows 98 SE, i have windows 98. would that be my problem?

The simplest thing to do is select something other than zoombrowser :P Zoombrowser is pretty bad in my experience.

Because of the slow speed of the interface I never use it; the $20 I spent on a USB 2.0 reader was well worth the money. Just remove the card, stick it in the reader, transfer everything the 'pooter, ready to rock & roll.
I transfer to a directory called "photo archive", then copy from there to where I will work on the images.

I really like my card reader too. If you burn up your batteries while your out shooting you don't have to wait for your battery to charge back up before you can start working on your pictures, and the ease of use is nice.
I've seen them on ebay and other online sites for under $10 (USB 1.0 though usually). But if you only have Windows 98, your computer is possibly a bit older, and wouldn't support USB 2.0 anyways.

Windows 98 doesn't support USB, Windows SE does. Well, technically it does but there have been issues. |

I've never had any problems with USB in Win98 first edition.
Ah, sorry, USB 2.0 - that probably won't work. I was talking about USB 1.1..

all of that USB info is foreign language to me. what is the difference between win 98 and win 98 SE?
by the way, the images are loading now. taking much longer than my 3800 images to load. is that because the pixel size is larger?
thx,

Hi Jack, Yeh the files are large from the 300d so upload time will be longer. You would be better off investing in a card reader, its much easier and quicker. The zoombrowser is not the best but it works fine with my Windows XP. I use it to upload but still use the Finepix viewer software to look at the images.

different between 98 ans 98se was.
more included drivers
couple security patches applied
newer version of IE included
98 and XP are 100% different.
XP is a newer version of NT and win2000
USB2.0 does not work with any dos based OS as far as I'm aware.
it works with the latest SP in win2000 and SP1 in winXP
I agree with the USB card reader, the 300D is so slow its not funny :( |

speed is relative to the machine you own ;}
none of the new worms or virii¿ seem to attack win 98 or win98se ;}
patience is a virtue
p4 512M ram, 40gig, win98se
happy anough for now
dl'ing anyway off my 300d is good enough for me
