I took this photo a fair while ago (posted it in a B&W thread that was going)
Is there anything you could do to this photo to improve it, or is that about it?
whats been done already.
-Photo taken in colour
-Slight USM (2px 30%)
-contrast
-Desaturate
-cropped
then for posting on the net
-downsized
Its been almost everyones favorite thats seen my portfolio, which I'm happy, and also surprised about :)

The depth of field is a definitely impressive. Very simple composition. The image is very clean. Contrasts is excellent.
Would make for a great screen saver then a picture to hang. Why? IMO , it's something good to look at in passing, but doesn't hold your attention.
Maybe placing an object in the composition would help your eyes focus in on that object.Maybe one of those florescent fish tank pebbles thrown into the mix and keeping the color still on it.
Would really like to see the color version to compare.

I agree about it not being wall hangable.
It was actually a photo of bitumen, I was sitting in the road taking photo's of ants, and picked this as a favorite :)
this is the colour version (roughly)
definately doesn;t suit. |

O.k. The color one is definitely hangable. I think it has more personality. It like it more then the b&w one. I tiny bit of cloning and it's perfect.

try keeping a couple rocks the actual color, while making the majority b&w . i used your b&w as a bakground layer and cut out a single rock from the color pic as an example.
