This is a picture that I didn't enter into the Desat challenge because I removed the license plate (partly for privacy partly for appearance).
Am I right in thinking the removal of this 'element' would indeed have broken the rules, or would it have been ok on the argument that it didn't substantially alter the viewers perception ?
Thanks, |

I would say definitely you could have entered it under the rule of privacy. If there is one. Should be an exception for such a thing. It isn't really the element of what is going on. |

Thanks for that - so just to help me understand . . is that because it was, and is, still clearly a car ?
The business of 'removing elements' is always a bit of a contentious area and that's what I was wary of. |

I agree. I tend to remove things like license plate details from most of my photo's, especially if the picture picks out one car clearly or has someone standing next to their vehicle.

Yes. The description of the photo doesn't change because the plate was removed. However if you removed yourself (assuming that's you) then the description of the shot would change dramatically and therefore you probably would get DQed.

Happy with that Yanko - thanks for the input.
For the record though it wasn't me - it was the owner who was clearly very much in love with his new toy. lol. |
