Anyone know for sure if a 16Gb card can be used in a 20D with the latest firmware? Can it be formatted in camera or do you have to do the windows format thing?

If it could be used, that's a lot of eggs in one basket, so-to-speak.

That's what I was thinking. I'd be terrified.

Yeah but you know, I shoot RAW so they are bigger er...um... eggs :-) Point is well taken though; I hate swapping cards and have been lucky with cards.

Seems like the deal is that Canon have not released firmware to use these (>8Gb cards) apart from the MkII/III. Google turned up some people that have been getting it working on the 5D anyway but formatting the card on the computer instead of in camera. Well see....

4GB still generally seems to be the best price point, in $/GB. My 5D will shoot over 300 RAW images on a 4GB card. The 20D would shoot many more than that.
Buying bigger cards than 4GB at this point is more expensive and more risky as far as the potential for lost images.

B&H had a 16 GB Sandisk Extreme III going for $170 after rebate the other day. I ordered one and it works fine in my 20D.

How do you clear the card? Do you delete all or format in the camera (or delete using a card reader)? It seems that a format in camera will push is back to 8Gb. Yeah, there are some good deals going if you can deal with the rebate sh*t.

I just hit delete all.
