I am REALLY sorry if this is already a post, and I had looked through the other posts and hadn't seen it but I think this would be a good place to post your collage pictures! I am starting to like collages more and more and I just wanted to see everyone elses take on it also. If everyone wants to join in commenting the person above or below them that would be great also! :)

Careful! Once you start making collages, you could get addicted! ;)

Here's one I did for my son & husbands first season of Teeball. :)
And while I was messing around with some photos the other night, I threw this one together although, I guess it might be considered more of a diptych than a collage. But whatever. :)

I was getting ready to post a question about collages and I saw this post. I figure here would be the best place to ask.
I have been wanting to try making these. Are they just done in Photoshop from scratch. I was hoping I could find premade templates I could download. Or even how to make a template.
Any suggestion?

They are coming up very small. Maybe it is just my computer. :)

Look at the preview of the print images -- I only uploaded small ones to my portfolio. |

Many of us swear by a program called FotoFusion.
It makes collages super easy and fast. |

Thanks, sorry I should have thought of that. Those are great. I might print one for my sons wall. We are learing our letters right now. It would be nice to have something not so childish all over our walls.

Thanks that is just what I was looking for. I would love to be able to make these and offer them for clients.

I used Fotofusion to do the Teeball collage I posted here earlier. It was only the basic version. I think it's like $35 or something like that. Totally a timesaver (and headache saver too) :) |

About a year ago, a wedding assistant and myself decided that the profit for ONE wedding would be for upgrading our software. We each bought Lumipix FotoFusion.
Every portrait sale I've done since has included atleast one collage. Everything is adjustable - say 3 images wide, set the background color, frame color, and image style...print & frame and it looks like a custom framing job - price accordingly.
I still plan my pages on paper, that's rather old-school, but it works for me. Album layout in PS is laborious and takes hours or days - in FotoFusion I can load 150 images and with my paper guide, can layout an album in an hour or two. That's it, ready to order.
As a tool, it has its place and fills its place VERY welll. Do you need it.. depends on how often you will use it and the value of that time. If you play with the free trial you'll see what I mean, then can decide if its something you need.

Out of curiosity did you purchase the enhanced or extreme version? I have jst been looking at this program and was considering buying it but don't know which option is the best.
Thanks

Thanks, I am going to download it and play around with it. I see it as something I would use a lot. I am also curious what version everyone uses and what the differences are.

I have the most very basic version. The "Scrapbook" version I guess is what they consider it to be. You can only print up to 12x12 with it and you can't add text (but it's easy enough to drop the .jpg into PS and add text). You can't save as a .psd file. There are other things, but those are the main things that come to mind.
It's geared towards digital scrapbookers, so there are scrapbook themes that you can choose from too. But the selection is kind of limited at the moment and I think you have to pay extra for them anyways, at least from what I can tell. I think this might be a new version, because when I looked into Lumapix before, I don't remember there being a lower priced version and the $120 price tag scared me away as I wouldn't use it that often.
I just purchased the basic version to do the TeeBall collages for all the coaches out of frustration in losing my almost completely finished PS template that took me almost all day to do to a power outage. Grrrrrrr...yes, I know I should "save" every once in awhile. Especially during an electrical storm. :) It was a lifesaver, made things soooooo much easier since I could just create the template then just throw in the different photos for the different coaches, save and print. |

I bought the pro version because the basic version won't let you do multi-page layouts (albums). But IMO, its worth the cost.

Great examples from everyone! I'm also happy to hear about a program that does it, as I've done mine from scratch in Photoshop so far -- doh!
Here are a few:

This is Emily she is the Canadian Irish Dance Champion for 2007, and recently placed 8th in the World Irish Dance Competition for 2007. I was shooting her for a local newspaper. While I was set-up I asked Emily if I could shoot her feet for a poster. This is what I have come up with so far. She is an amazing athlete totally dedicated to this dance form
Thanks for looking :) This is my first and only attempt at a collage |
