OK, I think its time for another London, South of England GTG (although anyone welcome to attend of course).

Now there is a place South of the M25 called the British Wildlife Center, kind of like a zoo, but just filled with all kinds of British wildlife (surprisingly!). Now, before I make enquiries, I just wondered how many would be interested in a day out here, they have a number of dates put aside for `photography days`, which are generaly on weekdays. There is a link below that shows the available dates they have at the moment.

Have a look at the dates and lets see if we can get a small (or large) group together.. Should be a fun day out.

On a subnote, Friday 22nd June would be ideal for me (and just in time to get some shots for the June Free study!) But lets see what the majority think..

You can pencil Hanae & I in, Im sure Mr Pants will be up for it too. I think £14 should be within our very tight budget, and it will be good to see you again anyway mate...

thanks for setting it up.

Sounds great, but like Alex I can't take time off work at the moment, pity they don't have any weekend dates :o/

If I can get enough interest maybe we could see if they could do a special for DPC?? I am more than happy to call them up to discuss.

Is the cost £7 or £49? The general charge is £7 per adult, but for the photography specific days it is £49 per head.

for the photographic days it £49 per head, but thats because it is closed to the general public, so I guess its a way of recurperating their losses.. On the plus side, no screaming kids running around..

However if we was to arrange on a normal "open to the public" day then its £7 per head. Maybe its worth me seeing what it is like on a normal day and opting for that, £49 isnt that expensive, but I know its out of a lot of ppls price range..

OK, so realistically we are looking to go on a normal day? I guess financicallyit makes more sense..

OK, so, who is up for a weekend visit costing £7 per head?

then let me know the best dates for you.

I'm interested in principle - weekends better, but I am not totally averse to a day off.

Hang on - this could be worth £49:

"We can normally allow access inside some of the enclosures, including the foxes, otters and wild cats."

I don't really care about the photography, but facing down a wild cat would be great fun. I'm guessing Beast of Bodmin Moor. Adrenaline-filled stuff.

There is more chance of me joining you guys on a week day
(I am away from home all week, so weekends are rather precious at the mopment)

Weekends are better for me but I could squeeze a day here and there. The photog special days seem kind of cool, however but I only have a small one (lens that is) and would need to get quite close :-)

In principle sounds good.

I am not working right now so a weekday might be doable, however, I am not sure I want (or can!) to spend £49.

I would be more than likely to be in if it was a Friday, if at the weekend then my daughter (whose 10 but not the screaming variety of child) would need to accompany me

Happy for either a general day or a photo specific day

if anyone is still up for this GTG....

there is a feature on the 'british wildlife centre' in this weeks amateur photographer magazine.

the guy has got excellent shots, taken with the lens litrally inches from the animals.

really looks like a good day out, but after appearing in this mag it might be booked up for a while!

Hi Dain.
I think I got the last slot for Friday, 15 June. There were still openings the following week as of this past Sunday.

Its definitely something I want to look into arranging.. I am sure I could blag a discount of sorts out of them, maybe if we did a late summers evening kind of deal on a Saturday.. thanks for the heads up regarding the magazine article, like you said, probably be reallybooked up for a while now..
