Mardi Gras goes on from Epiphany to the start of lent. Usually they do parades for Fat Tuesday...the end of Mardi Gras. It's been going on for awhile, then Fat Tuesday, then lent. WE need to plan a New Orleans GTG next year and have everyone meet for parades and drinking!!

Now you're just talking jibberish! I guess my (formerly) Catholic wife knows about these words. I know that Mardi Gras, i.e. Fat Tuesday, is always a Tuesday, and that it's related to Easter in some way.

Mardi Gras falls on Feb 5th this year. Like Christmas it IS just one day, though the celebrations now stretch out some time before that.
It seems that everyone enjoys Mardi Gras, whether they know (or care about) the significance.

OK, here is a parade on the 26th.

Krewe of Centaur Mardi Gras Parade
Saturday, January 26, 2008
Corner of Lake St. and Clyde Fant Prkwy., Shreveport. This parade travels through Shreveport featuring several entries of large floats, marching bands, and plenty of throws. The parade will start in downtown Shreveport at Lake Street and Clyde Fant Parkway, will proceed south down the parkway to Shreveport-Barksdale Hwy., then west to East Kings Hwy., from East Kings Hwy. to Preston St. where the parade will end. 4:30 p.m. For further information call 318-213-6745 or 453-3437.

There is a bar and shopping center right on the parade route. I am going to post a new thread about the possible GTG with maps and whatever else is required. There are restaurants within walking distance. Anymore questions before I start the new post? (Going to get a beer now!)

What kinda booze goes well with decongestants? Something strong please, I'm ticked off!!!

Had the cold from hell for 10 days. I have a day when I feel like I've beat it only to have it say the next day, "Ya think so, do ya??" But FINALLY it's to the point where I can actually DO something.
Okay, so what to do? Mentioned to Beck that the birds challenge came too early in the year for a visit to the raptor flight center. We've hardly even had any around the yard and feeders this year, probably because of all the construction surrounding us.

Hubby comes home from work yesterday and comments in passing, "There were sure a lot of birds at the lagoon today."
*slaps forehead* DUHHH!!!! It's a bird sanctuary. It's a winter migration stop for several northern species we don't normally get, on top of the swans, geese, ducks and gulls etc that stay year-round. It's 5 minutes away from my house.
WTF was I thinking?? (or not thinking)

To top it off, the weather forecast is for SUN, which is practically unheard-of in Victoria's winters. Okay, no sleeping until noon! It's off to the lagoon to shoot birds! :D

NOT.
Got to sleep LATE, then woke at 7 in the middle of a series of explosive sneezes. Nose and one eye immediately streaming. Fumble for decongestants with closed eyes (opening them starts the sneezing again) then stagger to the couch where I can sleep propped up.
Finally get back to sleep to not wake until 2PM, with not much improvement :(

It's a conspiracy, I tell ya!! I am sooooo damned sick and tired of feeling sick and tired! I wanna go out in the sunshine with my daughter, my camera and my 50lb sack of barley and find BIRDS!!! muttergrumblewannasmashsomethingmuttergrumble
