Desaturating is a boring subject for a contest, most photo entered, including mine, are dull and not worth the trouble, taking or looking at. There is only one unique photo that is interesting and worth considering. I have given it a 10.
Mine is making 6.1 I hope it drops to 5 and less; I will never desaturate, it is just bare stupidity.

I couldn't disagree more. I find desat very powerful when composed and used correctly. I love desat and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I'm not a fan of it either and my image is scoring below my average and deservedly so.

Why are you wasting your time on this piss-poor site? You never have anything nice to say about anything or anybody.
Please leave and let us "less-than-perfect" human beings enjoy ourselves.

At last check you don't have to enter all the challenges.

Come on Brad everyone has a right to their opinion, thats no reason to kick em outta here. I disagree too, I think some beautiful shots came of this challenge, it just makes your eyes sore from going through 558 pictures. Maybe thats what HighNoon meant......:P

I completely agree that everyone has a right to their own opinion, but you would have to know the history of this user.

Like anything else, it can be done well and it can be done poorly. And it can be done for the wrong reasons or it can make a photo stronger.

Since it is a rather simple technique and can be accomplished many ways. It is over-abused. Secondly it depends on an artist's ability to create a good B&W image.

Anyway, I've seen a few ones I liked in the challenge. And I saw some really bad ones. Ofcourse, that happens in EVERY challenge. Nothing new.

Now excuse me, I have yet another bad taste in my mouth...

I agree, I think Desaturation is one of the worst ideas in photography and not the best way to kick off DPL.

Given that, there are a few very compelling shots in challenge (mine isn't one of them). Those photos really make it a joy to vote. Desaturation is a tough one to get right. Those who do get that magic formula though, you understand the point of desat.

You could always just enter one of the other 2 challenges and skip the desat one. Just a thought. *pours fuel on the fire*

Interesting...guess whose portfolio this came from?

Perhaps you should edit this: "I will never desaturate, it is just bare stupidity." to this: "I will never desaturate again, it is just bare stupidity."
