I am sorry but I do find it to be very TACKY to post outakes prior to the challenge. It has nothing to do with post your best whatever. It has to do with the challenge as it is being submitted and voted on. If we can't talk about a certain photo in the challenge should we be able to discuss a photo during the submission time without knowing if there is going to be another photo similar to it in the challenge?

To those of you who keep doing it start asking if you just took someone elses idea and made it public then be willing to give them your submission since you just made theirs a topic for discussion prior to voting.

I propose the banning of all discussion in the forums of photographic issues whilst challenges are on-going.

I have made a rough calculation of the number of votes I believe I have lost due to discussion of particular subjects and/or techniques. It is my belief that if these votes are counted you will see that I am actually a whiner with little talent rather than a whiner with no talent.

We have a free study challenge for the whole month of December. Does that mean we can't post any photos in the forums until that challenge is over because we might discuss someone's idea for that too?

Exactly. I know I'm guilty of talking about a "type" of shot during a challenge and was nailed for it during the Money Challenge, hence my leaving the forums for a while. But not to be able to discuss any ideas or photos because it might be someone else's entry is taking it to far IMHO.

the only reason i posted the tire photo ( and i am not the only one who has ever taken one ) was i noticed this thread - went to submit my shot - and realized that i had edited it outside the rules.
its no eligible tro be entered and therefore has no relevance to the challenge...

i am sorry you took a picture of a tire as well - however it isn't my fault you did so, or that you decided not to enter it.

again people speak of ideas all the time here during the submission period - i see no difference in posting a photo to that type of thing.

I think these people are taking their ideas and posting them. If your photo is as good as you say, be confident in yourself and post it and don't worry about what other people have posted.

In past challenges, I have seen multiple entries of macro shots of bugs and flowers. I'm willing to make a large wager that this Macro challenge will have bugs and flowers, and most likely multiple of each. Because people have posted and discussed bug & flower macro shots, they shouldn't post them?

I'm having a hard time understanding your logic that it is everybody else's fault that you didn't enter your photo in the challenge.
