We were busy most of the week and out all day Christmas shopping and visiting and I forgot all about submitting.
After all the talk about repeating shots I was trying for something completely different. The only PS adjustments made were level adjustments and cropping.
This is one shot I was thinking of entering.
Some titles I had in mind of were
"Driving In The Rain" or "Hazadous Driving"

All comments are welcome

Thank You :)
I was focusing on the water drops near the lower center of the shot so the drops on the left went out of focus. Ii did not want the traffic in the mirror to take away from the focus point.
I was setting at a red light when I got the idea, grabbed my camera and just took a few shots.
I will email you the poster :)
Thanks again.

And now... Gimme that poster. :-)))
I am just joking. :-)))

I see now. :-) I just didn't know that much about the background traffic. I was just wondering. The most important subjects are clearly in focus.
Wow. :-) Do I get the poster? :-) Thank you very much! :-)

Thanks to everyone that commented on my missed "Water" submission photo.
I loved all the comments.
Granted it is not all that great a photo but I just want to discuss the thoughts and the final image.
Helps to go through the process right?
robsmith, I emailed you the poster, I hope your email account can handle it. LOL
I just wanted to add some thoughts.
My thought behind this shot was:
Everyone was complaining in the forum about all the water cliche shots that were going to show up in the challenge. So while setting at a red light during a recent rain storm this idea came to me so I had my wife reach around and grab the camera.
Thinking:
1. Water
2. What happens to traffic
3. Blur out the traffic and try to make water the center point of focus
Originally posted by Spazmo99: I like this idea, but I think it might go over better if the rear-view mirror was better defined, maybe if it was in focus and the window was soft. I dunno, I just think the mirror should stand out. |
Spazmo99 thanks, I have one with the traffic and mirror in focus and it did not work for me as well. I was thinking "Water" so I centered the focus on that.
Originally posted by sonnyh: I like the picture a lot and the only thing that is a little disturbing is the lights in the rear view mirror. I like them there but just a tad too bright.
And now I'll take my mini poster. sonny@pixelpleasures.com and thanks. |
sonnyh, that was just a little annoying to me also but without spot editing to maybe blur them more I'm not sure how I could have fixed it.
If you still want the poster I will email it to you but it is 2mb :)

That was my original thought :)
I have attached a copy showing where I center the focus point.
It is within the area circled in red.
I guess maybe the background was to dark and the water did not stand out enough in the final image? Maybe with spot editing it could have more impact on the "Water" part.
What was learned from all of this?
Next time if I want to shoot a cliche shot I will To heck with what everyone else is saying :)
LOL
Happy Holiday and Merry Christmas!
P.S. The free poster offer is still open! LOL
