I don't know if these are her photos, but either way, she knows how to present her feelings.

Very touching. Very well done. Makes me want to take some of those kind of shots. The grieving family image were very intense, very raw and emotional.

I dunno if I'd want to do the grieving family photography. Too heart-wrenching for me. And besides, I'd have this overwhelming feeling that I was invading their privacy.
I'm not saying I have anything against those shots, but that I don't think I could do it.

You are right. It would be VERY hard. I agree that it would be walking a very thin line privacy-wise. There must be some protocol that one should follow though, right?

In journalism school ethics classes we were taught to not be too intrusive in those sorts of situations. There are protocols yes. I doubt most big time journalist observe them. But, none-the-less, I'd feel odd about it. Luckily I never had to do it.

If you are interested in photographing military families during there happier times there is a wonderful non-profit organization for photographers. I am not sure if you are aware of it. I am a member and I feel it is a great way to show support.
Operation Love
Sorry if this is a little off topic.

I was doing fine till we got to the folded flags and the coffins... then all kinds of memories of a past war came back, and the terrible impact it had on so many families.
Truly makes one appreciate the sacrifice made by these people... God bless them all.

Amen! I have cousins, friends, neighbors that have gone and are back or are at war now and it is very unnerving to know they may not come back, yet I admire and am so very proud that they are fighting for us...because we wouldn't or can't.
The link is extremely well done, very emotionally charged. I'm with Leroy on not being able to do the grief photos. Just watching the video brought tears to my eyes. I couldn't stay together to do it. :(
