There is a bar? Am I under it or over it? If I am under it please pick me up. If I am over it, can I have another drink please?

As to the OP, I think Arty said it best. It's a matter of timing and who else is both online and able to help.

That explains why some OPs get lots of responses and some get none. It doesn't really explain why the first person to provide an answer in a thread often gets ignored and then another person comes and repeats the exact same answer and is practically awarded the OP's firstborn!
Anyway, since I can't be bothered to go and find an example, I'll bow out.
I know it's something that crops up quite often, actually most often in threads where I'm not posting at all, but am following.

*THAT* issue also has to do with timing, but mixed in with the fact that someone new to a thread won't bother to read the whole thing. This leads to people posting ideas that had been posted before, only seeing the second/third/fourth whatever post first and just responding to that, etc.

I've seen certain people come into a thread that is only 5 or 6 posts long and post something ENTIRELY unrelated to the conversation, but is a full diatribe on what they think the thread *TITLE* implies. lol.

Welcome to DPC, land of people that can't be bothered to read more than one or two posts (or many times no posts!) before they jump in to give their ever so important two pennies.

Haha... yeah, attention span of goldfish!
Don't get me wrong, it's not something that bothers me hugely, though it does mean I'm a LOT less likely to bother posting advice even when I think I can help and can explain something well - I'll just leave it to those that people are happier getting advice from.
But it's definitely something I've noticed.
