I love that phrase. It says it all. We don't suck, our pictures don't suck, but the scores suck -- most of the time. |

I've been very busy with the camera the past two days. I have my entries in for Missing Link, Portrait, and FS.
But the best thing I did yesterday was install CS3. I was afraid there would be a learning curve, but its not that different than CS2. I haven't explored it all, but one very nice thing I found is a new Adjustment Layer for Black & White. It is really very easy and effective. It works a lot like Channel Mixer, but has all the colors (magenta, cyan, yellow, etc.) not just RGB.
I was also afraid that my poor old laptop would have trouble handling it, since CS2 is constantly paging the memory. Not so! CS3 loads faster than CS2 and doesn't seem to page at all, even when I switch over to a browser window while CS3 is open. I like it. |

My favorite thing in CS3 is the B&W conversion utility. I don't think that should surprise anyone. :-)
Cats are on their way to spend a month and a half with my friend Raina in Heidelberg. When my other friend gets a place to live and gets settled, she'll take over catsitting duties. I'm nearly packed, except for the electronics and the little things, and have managed to get everything into a small backpack. And two very large rolling duffle bags. (What, you thought I could pack for six months in a backpack??) I leave this weekend. I shall check in when I get a chance and let you all know just how hot it is.
You may wish to park me in Team Zombie's space for awhile. I do have one in Nightmare (score isn't a nightmare but isn't all that great, either). I don't currently have anything for the upcoming challenges and seriously doubt I'll get anything. But you never know! |

As a team Hoover member (Deb's team) who has benefited from her recent spate of non-suckage, I would be very much opposed to removing her from the team. I can't speak for other members, but moving her to zombie in these circumstances is just, well, wrong, on so many levels.
Can we please keep her? Pretty please? I'd rather not get a chance to vote OOBIEs and YAPPIEs until she's back than move her from the team.
To the powers that be, please let us keep her :)
Deb, we'll be thinking of you and checking regularly to see if you have any news. If you need anything, let us know. Godspeed.
Best,
Rob |

Thanks, Rob. And you know I'll be right there for the next Sand challenge. :-)
Thanks all. And I'll check in when I get there. I understand they have internet and everything! (And rumor has it, a pseudo-Starbucks at one location.) I've also checked - and yes, they'll be getting copies of Harry Potter there. Can't be all bad! |

I second rheverly about keeping Deb in Hoovers. She belongs to us and we will fight to keep her!! I don't care where she is going, cos we won't let anyone near her, til she comes back to us.
Team Hoover will cover and protect her for six months!! |

Good luck, Deb. May you not run into any of the 5' hairy colonel-eating spiders I've been hearing about.

Hey Team Suck members:
Amazon is having a sale of Cartier-Bresson "The Man, The Image & The World: A Retrospective". $11 normally $55. Just got mine today actually. Wasn't sure if this post was against forum rules. 432 pages of beautiful images. Just a heads up. |

OK OK - I'll stay a Hoover! (I love being a Hoover. It sounds so much better than an Electrolux or a Eureka.)
As for the camel spiders, one of my goals is to find one (dead) encased in lucite or something similar - it'll be a Christmas gift for my nephews, who will think it's cool. I do not wish, however, to meet one live and in person.
Cory ( Fetor) has a nice pic of one....

Maybe I should pretend I'm going to put Melethia in Team Zombie so y'all can band together and fight me? |

hey, we had those spiders in botswana. not that big, though. or i didn't see any that size. but, my god, they're fast. have fun!
actually, they were a little bigger than the one fetor has, but not nearly as big as the ones in the web pic. of course, those are probably victims of forced perspective...

So ... does anyone have any ideas for missing link? I'm fresh out.

Missing Links
-an ant with five legs.
-a package of olives misplaced in Crete.
-a dead man clutching an unloaded gun.
-Judas Iscariot in a barber shop. He is whistling.
-a fireman rushes in from the pouring rain.
-a lamb drowning in milk.
-cherries pitted against higher seeded watermelons.
-a tap dancing Mormon on Highway 61.
-cardiac pills left in a hotel refrigerator.
-a senile man whispering his secrets to a deaf nurse.
-a book with the odd pages missing.

That last one is dual purpose, Mary. Will work nicely for paper. |

I might be a bit late with getting Lucky 7 results up; my wife and I are going out for our 6th anniversary. Results should be up by tomorrow morning.
Melethia: I make sure your team keeps a place for you until you come back. Hopefully you can peek in from time to time.
