perhaps over this thread?

I hope not. I didn't get the impression that any of the discussion there bothered him. I could be wrong.

He seemed very put off by this place anyway. Thought very little of anyone's work that didn't match his own. Oh well.

i would be VERY surprised if it was over that thread, i believe him to have a much thicker skin than that.
Lets face it this site does not embrace people like arcady, and thats a shame.

Well, yes and no. At first arcady annoyed me with his comments on my ribbon shots saying they were useless. Then I got to know his view and understood he certainly had a consistent taste. I started enjoying him. But in the end, he went back to being a bit too "my way or the highway" for my taste. So I guess I won't miss him that much after all...

I only saw one side of him which came across to me as someone quite negative. I am assuming he has a history here and some of you know him. So when you say that this site does not embrace people like him, what side did you know? There must be some aspect you thought he was bringing here. And let me say, I am asking out of curiousity, not out of spite or maliciousness.

If you are talking about artistic tastes, I respectfully disagree. People like posthumous have a different eye for art, but are much more tactful in the way they present their arguments.

I hope he doesn't mind me sharing this with you, but he told us that his vision of photography just didn't match the direction of the site. Simple as that. Sometimes that happens in a relationship and people part ways amicably, with an understanding of their differences. No controversy as far as I could see, just a thought that it was time to go.

I'd like to answer this too if I may.

I thought Arcady was simply being honest. He wasn't always negative. Not even rude. Just explained exactly what was going on in his mind at the time. His reaction. His thoughts. In fact, he gave many quite positive, articulate comments on images that I personally would otherwise have missed understanding at all. I know that I could learn a great deal from his comments, positive and negative.

I'm sorry to see him go.

I need to stop throwing up quick replies, I'm not communicating well today. what I meant to say was perhaps it was that thread that broke the camels back. It's not that there was some huge flame argument in the thread, it's just that was one of the last threads I saw him active in and it became very apparent that his tastes and styles were different than a lot of folks around here.

whether that thread had anything to do with it directly or not it seems that is ultimately the reason he left.

He is a rude son of a bitch unwilling to bend an inch.

And I love him.

Is that the guy who had a Hassy H1D listed as his camera, but all his pictures were taken with a Nikon D50?

Well, rats. I never did get a comment from him, and I'll miss a couple of shots in particular in his portfolio.

I liked his photographic style, and the site will be poorer for the lack of it.

I didn't like his lack of tact or respect for others' ideas of photography, but he quite willingly agreed to avoid images of anyone who asked.

Anyway, thanks, Frisca, for the explanation. I bear him no ill will, and hope he finds a photographic home.
