Poor performance yes, but Yahoo has the right to do it. It's not censorship when done by a private company. I assume Yahoo may be trying to protect its ass.
Without reading the comments, I'd also assume that some of the comments could border on libelous (knowing how people on the net talk) and Yahoo could get into a lawsuit over this.
The blogger, IMO, is uninformed and over-reacting.

Nope... not really, Yahoo/Flikr has every right to pull an image. Guess what? It's their servers. Unless you are running your own servers, you are subject to the whims of the company that runs them. No company could get sued for pulling content. They could, however, get sued for letting certain (ie libelous) content remain on their servers.
Without knowing the full details, the blogger here is just talking out of his ass.

yea, that's what I meant. Yahoo/Flickr has every right to do whatever they want. This is really between her and the gallery company. It seems there is a bigger buzz swarming around the internet over Flickr/Yahoo's action that there is about the actual stealing and reselling of her work.
Copyright infringement? bah, whatever.

Well... Flicker has apologized. Not that I'd be happy with that result. I'd expect the post and comments to be returned to their original condition.

I can't believe people.
And what's also interesting is that Flickr's co-founder explained that removing her picture and the comments weren't meant to be against her but because people got way out of hand in their reacting to the image theft.
Two wrongs don't make a right.. cliche but true. |
