What kind of snake is this? It's in Southern California near the coast. (sorry it's blurry)

My guess from the body type and head is a rattler. Not sure of the specific type though.

Oh ya, sorry, it was a baby rattler, but I'm just trying to figure out the type...

Sure looks like a western diamondback ratlesnake to me.

run into these alot around here. and use to "play" with them on my grandpas farm. :)

It's hard to tell. Could you get a closer shot? :D

It looks like a Diamondback to me. The colors don't look right for a Mojave Green.

I'm pretty sure that's actually a Southern Pacific rattlesnake.

Definitly looks like a rattler. Next time you should pick it up and get a picture holding it so we can see how big it is, this will help us identify it a little easier :)

Not a Western Diamondback... it is to brown. Western Diamondbacks are more grey than brown like that. Their greyness makes them stick out against a brown arid background, not blend in with it, which also makes them easy to spot.

As PhilipDyer suggests, it most likely is the Southern Pacific Rattlesnake.
