I just started my website. Although its still under construction, I would like some feedback. Can you guys (and girls) tell me what you think so far?
Thank you

Hi Anthony,
I have looked through your website and it is a nice start thus far. The one thing I would change though is that your front page photos are all females. Now being a guy this doesnt bother me much, but may be a turn off for your female audience.
Good Luck,
Rich

Anthony, first let me say what a great collection of images you have.
What I'm now going to say is meant as constructive feedback, based on my opinion and the years of web usabilty hints and tips I've picked up over time.
Home page:
What purpose does this serve? It doesn't contain any information and just another click between the user and the inforamtion or pictures they want. Also, I'd avoid using an 'under construction' banner. Website, by virture of the Internet and always under construction and changing. Each of the links at the top lead to somewhere, so why not just have a note, small print if you will, that the website is new and constantly evolving and maturing.
TEXT: I suggest changing the font. I'd use Aerial as it's clean and not the default. Sticking with Times New Roman just say 'couldn't be bothered with the font' to me. Also colour. Yellow is not the best to read on black and doesn't look that good - IMHO - try white (studies have shown White on Black to be easier to read than Black on White) or even a light grey.
Formatting:
I can see that the whole of each page is bound by a table width of 895px. The problem with that, is that if the browser window is less, you have to scrol left-right. It would be better to leave the width "", this will then allow the content to fit any size of window.
Anyway, like I said, this is just my opinion, and you do have some crackin' shot to be proud of. Hope it all works out.
Cheers,
Iain

Thanks for the comments. Exactly what I was looking for.
As for the photos of all girls, I haven't edited the photos of the guys I've shot yet. So right now all the photos will be of women, objects or places.
For the font, actually arial was the default. I choose Time New Roman because I realized it's on everyones computer. I think I will explore more with the font though.

I see. When I said default I meant default HTML. If you don't specify a font type, it will always use Times New Roman.
Anyway, Arial is available everywhere and if not it will fail over to Helvetica automatically.
Good luck

can't comment much on the technical side but I would not put in how long you have been doing photography. It makes you sound like an amatuer, which may be still true but not something you want to advertise. Also just galnced at a few shots but I wouldn't have so many variations of the same shots.take this page for example. |
