You think a lot of yourselves don't you?
I love the baseball comparison. I also loved it in 1997 when our Florida Marlins put together a kickass team of mostly semmingly average players, stomped the Yankees, and went on to win the World Series in only their fourth year of existence.
Many of the Marlin's made themselves 'superstars' that year and to the immense dissappontment of fans, the team was dismantled and sold off by Wayne Huizenga.
I REALLY loved it in 2003 when an almost entirely different Marlin's team, one made up of low budget, no name players, came back from a sub 500 season to surprise the first place New York Yankees by knocking them out of the race for the World Series in the Fall Classic. For the second time in their ten year history they again won the World Series.
Now here we are in the first season of DPL with a team made up of high budget players and the expectations that come with their status as superstars. Sounds like a challenge to me. I'm sure that there are a lot of "Marlin's" type teams in the DPL with a surprise superstar or two (or three) of their own.
I'm gonna love it when you 'big budget players' fall to a team that you have just motivated to take you down. I've always rooted for the underdogs anyway.
Oh yeah, I love competition too. Can you tell? :)

Just in case it wasn't crystal clear, my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek when I wrote the piece. I also agree that winning is the only option for the Hogs. Anything less will be failure. It's a high bar. If this encourages others to try harder and improves the DPL (and DPC) experience, then I'll have accomplished my objective.

Don't worry, it was crystal (the cheap plastic kind) clear ;)
My reply was tongue in cheek too. Actually, I had noticed your team makeup and recognized immediately how tough you guys are going to be to beat.
Still though, it makes a good challenge and I'm sure will motivate a lot of teams to do their best to be competitive.

Every competition needs it's Yankees or Tiger Woods. It would be boring otherwise.

reading back through my original post, it seems that i left out the tongue-in-cheek part.
that being said, you're all still full of yourselves and are complete buttheads.
...tongue in cheek, of course. ;) |

Thanks for thinking of us Doc. I take solice in the knowledge that no matter what Team Ribbon Dawgs do, they'll never come out of this with their heads held high. Of course you're the odds on favorites... the best money and a little backdoor... did I say backdoor... I meant back room shenanigans can buy. If you win, there'll be no parade as it was more or less expected. If you lose, no matter how small the margin... you lose BIG. Best of luck. You're gonna need it. :P

Don't think for a minute we don't fully realize that if WE didn't exist, YOU'd be the odds on favorite with the "stacked" team. Then you'd own all the pressure...
...you guys can send me a thank you card or something.

When the Outcasts are hoisting another championship banner you may rethink snubbing the Outcasts a season ago. :P |

Well, you did it. You won the regular season by almost .4 points over the second highest team. And you did it by having the most consistent ribbon winners on the site decide to join the same team. You couldn't have subverted the DPL better if you tried. As a fan of subversion, I tip my hat to you. |
