I have been on scary ground...
I find that I have to run my CF cards through the Recover program everytime now -
I put the card in my CF reader, or straight from camera, and copy the files to the hard drive. Open Bridge and start ranking the images and often no files show up at all on the card in the reader - and the files that show up on the camera only about 50% are able to open.
So I run the whole thing through the Recover program and 98% of the images recover and the shoot is saved.
It's the same on all of my CF cards (Sandisk 1gig and 2gig Extreme III).
Anyone have experience with this? I'll be on the phone with the repair shop, but thought I'd check in here too.
Thanks for your input in advance. |

Repair shop says to check my camera in and they'll get back with an estimate within 24-48 hours - I hope someone else out there has a better solution than that!

Are they all viewable on the camera?
If they are it could be the USB connection with the computer that is the problem. |

Yes, viewable on camera.
Reader is Firewire
Connection to camera is USB 2.0 |

Done the obvious things?
format the CF card in the camera
try using whatever utility Nikon provides to download?
Try accessing the card directly from windows (or Mac, or Linux....)
Try to download directly from the camera, not the reader.

Format the card everytime I put it in the camera for a new shoot
No Nikon Utility - I've never used one before
When the reader mounts the card on the Mac desktop I can't see the files there either
Camera download is the best result now, but only about 50% of the files work - then I have to use Recover to get the rest of the files
Thanks - I appreciate you helping me think this through.

Sounds scary to me, too. I have no solutions for you.
Keep us posted. (BTW, the team logo looks great.) |

Have you tried updating the drivers for the reader and your camera?
It sounds more like a computer controller problem rather than the camera. |

drivers eh? I'll have to check. I've never even installed a driver for my reader - Macs are great that way :-)
I'll have to check on my camera too. Thanks for your input.
