Having a blonde moment!
I have had a Nikon Lense 50mm 1:1.4 for several years now and haven't used it yet...can anyone tell me what it's good for, the pros and cons...be greatly appreciated and I might even use it one day!

You WHAT! My 50mm 1.8 is my walking lens since it's nice and sharp.

Natasha, that lens could be quite versatile. It is an f1.4 lens, which makes it very good in low light situations. Even stopped down a couple (commonly done to enhance sharpness), you still let in a lot of light. The large aperture also allows for smaller depth of field, which can be used to great effect in portraits. These lenses used to be the workhorses in the film era. The angle of view that this focal length sees approximates what the human eye perceives. Of course, on a digital SLR with a crop factor, that focal length now becomes longer and the field of view narrower.
Uses of the lens: portraits, indoor basketball (dimly lit gymnasiums!), etc. |

| Just keep in mind that the really old manual focus Nikon lenses don't have cut-outs for the metering contacts that the newer cameras have, and will damage a Nikon dSLR if you try to mount it. You should post the full model number of the lens. |

A F100 is a modern SLR, so the lens will work fine on a Nikon dSLR. I have the 50mm f/1.8 (a bit slower than yours), and it's a great lens, fast and very sharp.
typo...
