Would it be possible to have non-competing groups, to distinguish from teams? That would still allow explicit collaboration while eliminating the friend-voting issue. I don't mean to suggest that Langdon change gears immediately, but maybe in time for the second season to get started?

I've been thinking about that, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort it would take to set it up (just guessing on the effort). I think if a team has it's objectives and one of those is to not worry too terribly much about the competition, things will balance themselves out nicely.

And lemmings do what lemmings do and follow everyone else regardless of their values.

Not really sure what you are saying here but if you are directing this at Deb or Jeff you are wrong. INiether of them are followers in that sense. If youa re directing this at those like me who want to compete then you opinion is your own but youa re wrong again.

If people want to do it to learn and collaborate...the best way to do it is by shooting more and sharing more photos with your team...if you are doing that then challenge submissions should just come naturally. If you are on a team and not shooting new stuff what are you learning?

I agree and the funny thing is that some of those that just want to collabortae have more 6's than alot of other people. some of those teams will be pretty good.

some of those teams are pretty good, collaboration or not.

as far as lemmings go, the way I see it, they're are running in two directions. you are either a lemming running with dpl, or you are a lemming running against it.

yes but only those running against it have a cliff. What good's a lemming without a cliff?

My point being that my lemmings are better than your lemmings! :P

Mary, I have no clue what you meant about lemmings. So I'm just going to ignore it.

In case anyone else got confused, here's what I'm suggesting: a means by which a group of people can consciously, publicly, and fairly share ideas, suggest entries and editing techniques, etc. with ZERO chance of anyone ever accusing them of voting higher for each other.

Maybe that setup isn't part of DPL. Maybe it's a whole new concept: a group, a collaborative, a junta, etc.

You know people are going to start popping out of the woodwork once the season starts, after DPL has been plastered on the front page for a week or more, and ask if it's too late to join. If you think you might fit in that category...now's the time, pull the trigger and do it. My advice, there is not enough time for you to sit around waiting for someone to pick you just create a team.
