200 vote check in, down a bit with some voting, have to have a boost tomorrow or a decent scrub to get my PB now. I'm still thrilled with the score though and happy with the comments.

Well, I'm still hanging in the 6 zone! I went to 6.1??? which would almost be a PB, as my first challenge (this is my second) scored 6.1759.. Still thrilled :D I wanted to enter the Vanishing Point challenge but I couldn't think of or find a subject here in ReykjavÃk, Iceland. Don't think we have anything that's both long enough and straight enough :P anyhow, can't wait 'til tomorrow, new challenges, I finish my exams and the results from this one!

- My score has gone down from 5.81.
- I received a validation request (still kinda curious why).
Hopefully my score goes up and my validation is successful.

WOW, that is Blue Ribbon territory for sure! I haven't seen anyone post anything close to this since the very beginning.

From the looks of it, I'm probably going to finish last.
Even the 32 comments offer no consolation, as they
ranged from either perplexed or highly critical.
Oh well, back to the drawing board. |

Actually, that 2.2356 will only place you 25th lowest rated picture in DPC. The lowest honors goes to hann with "My Hand", at an amazing 1.809. Here's that remarkable image.
By the way, if it offers any consolation, you will likely not finish last. My current score & stats:

Voters are being mean to me today. I'm dropping like flies. From PB land to suck land(suck land being a relative term based on my expectations.)

...Clearly some juvenile behavior evident, which should be squelched sooner, rather than later. A DQ for "going for the brown" mockery of the challenge would be justice. For all of us who entered and voted in good faith, those who act in bad faith steal our time and energy.

I disagree. In the world of sports, you have plenty of examples of clowning", entertainment, acting silly and playfulness, all of which happens in the arena in relationship to the sporting event, but none of which is professional pursuit of the "win". Are these sporting clowns (some of whom are the actual professional atheletes) wasting everyone's time and acting in bad faith? If sports is only about winning I'd agree. But sports like photography is about many more things than how high you score! Entries which are "going for the brown" waste nobody's time since nobody is required to vote on any specific entry, just on 20% overall. "Going for the Brown" is not acting in bad faith, nor is it stealing anyone's time and energy. It may merely be a playful way of participating in the sport of DPC, having fun on the sidelines while all the serious folks are out there on the field getting sweaty over the score. |
And, some think building defacement graffiti is "fine art". Yes, we have clowns. I wouldn't suggest offending the first rate clowns by saying the Brown crowd is somehow akin to them. What we have at DPC is sort of like the occasional drunken fan who runs across the football field... naked and out of control.... in order to get "exposure" on national television. |
Congrats, charliebaker, on your well earned brown ribbon. Now I understand your self serving comments. It's a shame. I don't think it's funny.

Congrats, Richard on your excellent entry in the Sports III challenge and your 12th place finish.
Thanks for your delightful and humorous comments regarding brown ribbon attempts, including the zinger quoted above. I've enjoyed the lively dialog and look forward to further meetings in the DPC forums where we might stretch out like your climber to see life from an angle slightly different than our own.
