Ok, I got roped into putting up some photos but they're using picture rails. The problem is the photos won't hang as flush against the wall as I'd like and the rail isn't one of the standard rails. It's more like a tapestry rod a couple inches off the wall and "standard" rail hangers don't work. Any ideas how I could get the photos as flush as possible without putting holes in the walls?

center 'o' gravity problem..
had the same issue with landscape images + deep frames
ended up putting the picture d-hooks inside the frame & closer to the top rather than the back
(perpendicular to the front rather than parallel, 1/6 rather than 1/3 from the top)

I haven't tried this, but could you attach something lightweight like styrafoam blocks to the back of the frame bottom to hold it out so the photos are level?

They're metal frames so I can move the hardware to the top but I can't move it inside and they're fairly shallow to begin with.

I considered this when I saw the rails but they mounted the rails so far off the wall the photos would be hovering nearly two inches off the wall if I put in spacers.

Quite a pickle.

I think I need to construct a hanger for the rail that will run the line closer to the wall. Then I could use both of your ideas and it should hang pretty flat.

So, Technoshroom, where are your images going to be on display - for those of us in the Bay Area...

In an office building downtown.
