I searched for a tutorial about how to mat and frame your photographs and could not find any threads about this subject.
I would love to share the information I have but do not want to duplicate the information.
I would also love to see how and what others are doing, where they buy the mats, frames, backing boards etc.
Anyone interested?

I buy uncut mat from Utrecht's Art Supply and cut it using a $20 tool I bought there last fall. I use mat for the backer as well, but the dead cheap stuff.
I know I've seen forum threads on it, but not a tutorial to date. Go for it!

I do a lot of framing.
When I frame smaller (11x14 and under) I will often purchase pre-cut double mattes from a store such as Hobby Lobby and either purchase a pre-made frame or a metal "by-the-inch" frames that you assemble. I will often buy supplies for this kind of framing when its on sale so I can keep 2-3 around for anything I need a frame for fast.
When I frame bigger than 11x14 I buy my own matte board and I use a Logan brand matte cutter. I usually use the metal by-the-inch frames for this. When I frame bigger stuff I also make sure I use acid free mattes and backing boards. Cutting your own mattes and getting it nice takes practice. If you are going to frame a lot I highly recommend getting a NICE matte cutter as you will have straighter lines, perfect bevels and corners and many many fewer redos! (I can't stand te littl hand help cutters but some people like them just fine, I guess I just got spoiled with a good matte cutter right off the bat!)
I'm actually about to frame a 16x20 into a 20x24 metal frame. I suppose I could photo and make a tutorial.
There are many other options for framing and I use some of them as well when it suits my needs.
