What with all this talk on the problems of the DQ's here I have a suggestion.

Could the Site Council, in their all-knowing wisdom, take a look at the top 10 qualifying photos during the last 2-3 days of the challenge and automatically contact those folks for an original of their photo?

For example on the member challenge, request the top 10 originals on Wednesday, due into the SC by Friday or Saturday - this would give either 1 or 2 days to validate the 10 photos so that there are no surprises. Make it part of the rules that this is how it will be.

This would give the SC a couple days to have what they need in order to verify files, check for discrepancies, etc and not have to worry about DQ a photo after the challenge ends.

It is really strange to check the winnining photos to see that there is a new one in the top three with no explanation so I think it would be nice to have a separate page set up with the DQed photos on it, not necessarily the photographers names, just the photo, along with a brief description of whay it was DQed, what rule was violated, etc...

This could be a great learning tool for the new folks and some of us that have been around for a while as well.

That could give new kudos to those who break the rules - a nice little gallery all to themselves! ;)

Site council might be too busy to check all those shots for subtle illegalities three times a week.

SC wouldn't necessarily have to check each photo with a fine toothed comb, perhaps a quick check of EXIF info to validate the submission dates, obvious editing...and then if a DQ is requested after the challenge ends, they have the original already, no need to do the 24 or 48 hour request for the file.
