I was sitting by the lake in Toronto after lunch just now, with my big 100-400 lens on my camera..
taking a few shots of planes taking off from the island airport.
A couple of tourists came by and were taking photos of each other with their tiny credit-card camera, so I offered to take a shot of both of them together. I put down my camera and he handed me his. I held it up and composed a creative shot, but he was saying, "no, no, you 'ave eet backward."
Haha! I was holding it with the lens pointed at my ugly mug! They almost had a nasty souvenir.
:-D

LOL nice one slippy :P
I made an ass of myself recently on my last trip to the zoo and a young couple asked me to take their pic with a tiny PS camera. Took me a few to remember that you had to compose the shot with the LCD as the view finder is pretty much useless. Why bother putting view finders on those ones..
Anyway I don't feel half as bad now after hearing about your "incident" I figure you wont hear the end of it after word gets around :P

I don't think this one had a viewfinder. I was going to try to look through the lens.
:-D
Very cool little machine, so tiny. It made my hands feel big & awkward.

LOL I know the feeling about the tiny camera. This one did have a vewfinder but the damn thing was black even with the bay doors (for lack of a better word) open in front of the lens...

Funny story.
Did I read it right that you put your camera down? With that lens?
It reminded me of a story about someone who got robbed by the "You take our picture, we'll take yours" 'scam'; where the victim gets left holding a worthless camera while they watch someone run off with theirs.

Ah, good point. I do look after that lens better then my own children. My kids complain about that sometimes, so I have to remind them of who my favourite child is. I rarely have blinders on, and we were on the end of a pier(SP?) alone. I was on top of a lighthouse stand thingy with my camera, and of course, we were all in Toronto. In Toronto, people will typically ask your permission and say please before they rob you, and thank you afterwards.
But ya, good point. We should never put on the blinders when we're out with our babies.

Slipy, Slippy. You should have quipped right back and said "Don't you think I know what I'm doing?? Didn't you notice the color of that lens right there?? DO YOU REALIZE I HAVE FOUR RED FRIGGIN RIBBONS??!!" and then you should have proceeded to snap that pic of your ugly mug. :D |

Maybe this is a good time to plug Toronto tourism. I've been to a few places around the world, and I've never fealt safer anywhere than I do when I'm in Toronto, by far! Even places much smaller.
