Wish there was a stop button for voting. At 50 votes, I am sitting at a 5.600. My highest score to date.

"Come on, Big money, no whammies...STOP!"

I did spend some money this weekend on a tripod, two clamp lights, some 75 watt bulbs and some cloth to create a mini-studio. Next purchase is for materials to make a frame. I'll be scoring 6's in no time!

EL-ROI, not sure if you already have plans for your frame, but this might be very helpful. I have downloaded the pdf and someday hope to make use of some of the plans myself.

Thanks for the lnk! I made plans for a 4'x3' - 90 degree frame from PVC. However, I'm flexible.

EL-ROI....

No other single item improved my pictures more that the acquisition of my tri-pod. Hope yours is an integral a part of your shooting as mine has become.

Good luck.

I'm getting hammered now by the night shift...

Where's that stop button??

20 votes since the last time I checked and no comments. People are voting low and not explaining why.

I can't go on like this for a whole week!! I'll stop looking now.

Considering it's my first challenge, I'm not surprised at my low 5 score. Only one comment though.. /c:

I realize now though that I should have submitted this picture instead of what I did submit..

I've got to agree = the "night shift" is brutal!! I'm cryin' in my coffee!

No idea what your entry is smitty, but in the 5's really isn't bad. My first attempts were in the 3's (and I can see why ..... now).

When you consider that winning photos are often only high 6's it puts it into perspective a little. If the winners were averaging 9 then sure, 5 is low, but with the overall trend here 5 is a great start for you :)

Love that shot you posted just there, would have scored well I am sure. I'm now interested to see which entry was yours and compare them.

Although this is a striking shot, I feel that it's a bit one-dimensional in the sense that it has no surrounding to be a part of. The general trend here is for abstracts not to do so well. Images that work tend to be immediately obviously good.

Heaven forbid I be trendy. (sarcasm) I guess this is where I will try to seek out those that have a 'liking' for abstract shots, and focus mainly on their opinions.

Nat: They are completly different as far as content matter. Which made the decision difficult.
