I was messing around with .bat files the other day (i can't remember why) and then today I was thinking that it was such a pain to open Bridge and Photoshop shop separately, wouldn't it be easier to do both with one click? I found a great little tutorial that shows you how to make a simple .bat file to launch multiple applications with one click. The tutorial is here. The best part is you can make as many as you want for different program sets and launch as many programs as you want all at once! Neat!

I did what it said and just made a folder which includes a Bridge shortcut (called 'bridge'), a Photoshop shortcut (called 'photoshop'), and a run.bat file (just a re-extensioned .txt file) that looks like:

rem comments should begin with rem
rem note: this file launches all of my favorite apps!
rem note: replace the names below with your own..

@echo off

start photoshop
start bridge

@echo on

Not that it necessarily helps, but CS3 offers the option to automatically start Bridge when launching.

My gods, I used to program (of sorts) in batch.

Remember, always use CALL when executing one batch from another, or you'll never get execution back to the original script... :p
