Anyone enter this? It is only open to photography students in the US. The idea was kinda cool. You registered ahead of time, and beginning yesterday at 5pm Eastern you had 24 hours to take, edit, and submit a single photo that fit a theme that was given when the festival began.

I was pretty stoked about it. Seemed like a pretty edgy thing to be involved in until they released the theme. "Growth" Seems pretty cliche to me...The entries won't be visible until after 5pm this afternoon, but I'm betting dollars against donuts that more than half of the entries will be flowers, maternity, or children.. I was up pretty late last night working on mine (hence Insomnia) mostly trying to come up with an idea that was outside the box. I think I got it...well, not a winning photo perhaps, but I think I got a good idea for the contest. My submission went in last night right after midnight.

When voting opens up, I'll be sure to come back here and beg you to go vote for my photo...the grand prize is a Mac computer, a free copy of Aperature, and an 80Gb iPod...Lord knows I could use that computer...my PC just isn't up to what I've been asking of it.

I don't either. I used computers at the school to edit and submit my entry. I considered shooting film and scanning the neg for this, but time considerations made me go digital. The theme was released at 5pm yesterday, and I went right to the studio at 5:30, shot until around 9:30, then stressed over which photo to pick until around 10:30, then spent the next hour and a half editing. Was a little after midnight when I posted my entry. When I left the campus, my car was literally the only one in the lot. A security vehicle got behind me and followed me all the way off campus....odd to have folks hanging about at midnight, I guess.

I like the idea behind these 1 day photo 'festivals'. What I hate though is that you only submit one image. I've like to see one where you submitting one image for each hour, but the images must each have a different take on the theme.

Heh...

the deadline for submitting to this was 5pm today (Eastern).
The server apparently crashed due to overload around 4pm.
The deadline has been extended to 11pm.

Voting opened up yesterday.

As of this post, I am in 20th place out of 771 entries.

There is come pretty good work in there. There are also some dogs, but the overall quality of the work submitted is well above par.

Here is the direct link to my submission:

I'd post the photo, but as per the rules I cannot screen the photo on any other websites until the winners are announced.

If you feel so moved by my entry, please, by all means, feel free to cast a vote in my favor. ;)
