I took this shot with my camera set on auto.ISO was way too high (somewhere around 1600) , terrible exposure , jpg instead of RAW.What else could I do wrong? However the tutorials by Cindy and Brad along with other info I think I was able to salvage an otherwise poorly taken shot.What do you think?

I like how you were able to bring the light back to the faces, I think that is really good work. IMO the eyes in both worked versions are overdone, and are too bright and look a bit unnatural. I think its a really good portrait, if you toned down the eyes it would be even better. hope that helps some. It looks good to me. My two cents.

I think you should go back and take the photo right in camera.
But the eyes in that last one are a bit much.
The photoshopping looks alright to me, but a photo taken better in the first place would be best. |

Considering what you started with ... I think that is one HELL of a rescue and I don't think that the eyes are so overdone in the colour one.
