Maybe it's because I live in the middle of a city, and don't get out to 'God's country' often, but does anyone else get affixed on shooting one thing (namely Architecture for me)? Some people tell me that it's not much in terms of creativity for photography, but I'm strongly drawn towards structure, and this reflects in my photographs. Any critique's are welcome, and does anyone else get slight afflixtions with 'styles' occasionally?

Nice photos, I like the 4th one most. I find that sometimes I get stuck into shooting dark b&w shots, which normally reflects my mood. I know that kinda stuff doesn't do as well at DPC, so I need to start shooting more happy colourful stuff.

I definitely find myself fixating on certain subjects for a time. Sometimes my choice depends upon the season, others upon my mood.
I will agree with Ben...I like that fourth shot best :).

Smitty,
I dunno, maybe the architecture thing is an affliction of F717 owners.

davidson.
I really like your first and fourth pictures posted, particularly the first. The reoccuring circles add's a lot to that in my opinion, as well as angle. I would have cropped off the shadow on the right side though. ::shrug::
Maybe it is just a F717 thing. Anyone else in the 717 club out there with this affliction?
Also, on my fourth picture. I hope to get that one in a night shot sometime. There is nice backlighting from the inside. I, however, have no experience with night shooting so it should be somewhat of a new thing/challenge to me.

I think the 717 lends itself to architectural photography because it has a fairly wide angle lens. I shot a lot of church photos with mine.
As for night shooting, take and use a tripod and be patient.

I like the 4th one a lot. I find myself taking pictures of doors and windows all the time and in fact have several CD's full. We all pretty much get attracted to one thing even though we might take pictures of a million different things. I also take lots of pictures of laundry even though I have never ever used a picture of laundry to either showcase or sell, but I do have millions of them. When I went to Amsterdam I even found a window that had bedding hanging out of it. |

Archetectural landscape photography is a specialty just like all others, portraits, children, events, etc. If this is where your "passion" lies, then pursue it to its fullest. Seek opportunites to shoot for publications, newspapers, local charities, church brochures, fund raisers, new business grand openings, realtors, etc.
Your clients needs will differ greatly, but at the heart of all of them are composition and symetry. Good luck. |

For myself, I am kinda drawn toward a alsightly different perspective, i find flyovers and other mundane stuffs like a common lamp-posts beautiful. Dun have a reason for liking them, but strangely i kept taking photos of em.

Me too ...
But I like taking pictures of building and archtectural details. I'm kind-of working on a collection of decorative embossments on stucco buildings, but don't have anything organized as yet.
