Marak,

It takes a big person to admit when they are wrong and it's an even bigger person when it's a man! ;P

You've some beautiful images in your portfolio and some of us "lesser" photographers need images like those to aspire to. Please consider keeping your membership and come back in the heat of August and join the ranks again.

What happened is unfortunate, but by you making it public...many will (should) learn from this. You're talented and that is what helps make this site so wonderful.

Good luck and consider hanging around when you "get out".

You say that like that's a bad thing. ;-)

I have not read this thread completely yet. My solution to this is, do not vote for your spouces or friends images on any of the challenges. This will resolve any possible issues. I refuse to vote for a friends image when I know that it is there's. I may think a 4 but that is as far as it goes.

I cannot believe how MAK has abused the trust we put in him, personally I think 3 months isnt enough punishment. He should be dragged out into the street like the pig he is and shot like a dog.

"Dirty little cheat, dirty little cheat.." thats what he will be known as if he doesnt do the decent thing and leave this website. Scurry away like the cheating rat he is.

Personally I am glad he wont be back. I have a sour taste in my mouth from actually talking to him a few times. To think I shook his theiving hand at the Richmond GTG earlier this year. Urrrghh.. Seriosuly, I feel physically sick about it. I AM UNCLEAN!!!

<5 minutes later>

I have just showered in neat-bleach and still feel dirty. I need to call my counsellor. My fragile mind is now SHATTERED BEACUASE OF THAT SCUMBAG..

I hope he rots in hell.

I could try to cheat but I could never get through the 20% minimum requirement for my votes to count.

Ah well, the competitions will be cleaner this way.

Whenever I proof my own shots before a challenge I click "10" on the preview page. Am I in trouble?

On a subnote.. I think Larus & Scalvert should be banned as well as they always have a huge circle of their friends consistantly giving them high scores... scandalous.

Simms I certainly hope your kidding. In my eyes MAK did no wrong. But I'm not SC. 1 vote here and there does not alter someones score that much. Honestly this is just a photography web site. We are not in front of congress here. LOL... MAK thanks for the apology but IMO you did nothing wrong. I will miss your work. And hope you reconsider coming back. Good luck to you.

On a side note, if you recognize someones picture (maybe they are in their shot) and think its a nice shot, are you not supposed to vote on it?

Why would I joke about something this serious?

Often my friend and I will work together to make a photograph. Because we're doing it as a joint effort we both have some attachment to the photo. Naturally this increases our perception of it. I always try to vote fair, and rarely vote anymore, but this is just discouraging me from voting. My friend, or even myself, could get told I'm cheating for liking something I helped create? Not cool.

Hey, I know the answer to this one.

It wouldn't matter. Everybody would have the same fraudulent votes so they would more or less cancel each other out.

If your mind is really that delicate, I suggest staying indoors at all times with the lights off and the shades drawn.

Wow what a freak...coming from someone with extremely bad teeth? How could you Simms??

I think some of you need to step back for a sanity check.

They are looking for patterns. Because you vote your spouse/friend a 10 on a challenge doesn't mean anything. If you vote them them 10's in every/most challenges, then there is reason to be concerned. It's pretty clear and is not a witch hunt. IMO

C'mon people.

I just want it known my vote has never been bought regardless of what sexual favors I've been promised, so far.

If you have personal feelings for the person who took it (friend or spouse), or know something about the history of a shot, (ex. like someone said earlier about his son's shot being taken without him around to mentor)... then you are biased, either knowingly or unknowingly its still bias. Biased voting can affect ribbons, its just that simple. SC is correct. For Those With Spouses & Friends: like someone earlier posted, make it a personal challenge, DO NOT see the photo, vote on it, then after voting your spouse/friend can truly know how you feel, then you can honestly discuss what is truly right or wrong with their image and it makes EVERYONE a better photographer. Isn't that what we are here for? How does constantly giving someone a 10 help them be a better photographer?

I admit in the past that I have seen a friends photo before and then voted on it, I truly liked the photo, he also placed 4th. It would have placed high no matter if I voted it or not, but it was wrong to vote on it. I've given this lots of thought and SC is very right in this matter.

For MAK, you have lovely photos and would be a shame to leave the site, regardless of the ban. For others with Ban's, take it like men/women, take your punishment, learn from it, stay with DPC, and pull something positive from the experience.
