It has... from what I understand it will be a very basic version, positioned to compete with Picasa.

Its functionality will be less than Photoshop Elements, and also far less than GIMP, which sits between Elements and Photoshop in terms of functionality (closer to Photoshop, IMO), and is also free.

Agreed. GIMP is the poor man's Photoshop!

GIMP does a good job. It's multi-windowed format takes a little bit to get used to at first but it otherwise operates much like Photoshop in many ways and is surprisingly sophisticated.

I agree... the multi-window thing totally threw me the first time I used it, but once I got past the "it needs to look like Photoshop" mentality I found it surprisingly easy to learn my way around.
