Web Site Suggestion #1
It would be a nice feature to have the average score for everyone and every competition posted somewhere on the homepage. This would serve some valuable purposes. For one, it will allow voters to see how accurate their voting pattern is overall (say someone gives average vote of 5 they will see that they are low, or high etc) also the same goes for the receivers of votes, and they can see if they are in the top 20% - 40% and so forth.
Web Site Suggestion #2
We have the site faves: //www.dpchallenge.com/favorites.php, but to me a better idea would be to have them scored by their final score - i.e the top 20 scoring images from challenges.
Also, it may make some people feel better about their score, and / or their votes!
Finally, it may also be fairly interesting to see the swing on a day to day basis. One reason this idea came to mind was yesterday morning, I had 3 images all shooting over 6. By the end of the day they had all fallen pretty sharp, just quite interesting.
But perhaps I am just a stat geek.

Accuracy in voting patterns? I'm not sure I follow you here. Accuracy in voting would mean if you thought that photo was a 5 you gave it a 5 instead of missing with the mouse and clicking the 4 or the 6.
The way you are using accuracy implies there is a "correct" score or voting pattern that fits everyone. I don't believe there is so I don't really see a reason to try and homogenize people's feelings and votes about photos.

although i think suggestion #2 could be a possible good idea, i'm not sure about #1. for example, letting someone know that they're rank 4 out of 200 might encourage (although it definitely shouldn't, and i wouldn't) someone to go back and mark down every vote they gave in hopes of moving up to #3. i think the "anonymity" (?) of the results until the end probably helps preserve the legitimacy of the voting process. |

what about having a "Lock your votes" option. Then, one cannot go back and change his votes and one can see what his rank is.

I think that things are fine the way they are. :)
It would be a neat feature if the voting system could be similar to a slider bar, 1 to 10. If you click say in between 6 and 7 you would vote a 6.5455 or something like that. Its probably a complicated feature to implement, but it would be cool! :) |
