Me too. Probably doesn't clean off really badly stuck on gunk as well as 'wet cleaning' or tape, but because it's so easy and safe to do you just get into the habit of cleaning regularly before anything has a chance to become really stuck. |

Artic Butterfly?
I'm also talking about people testing things on a simple filter, not on their sensor. I just want to know if other people agree that the Scotch Tape doesn't seem to leave a residue.

Back when I was cleaning windows for money in Canada, we used to use tape to remove tape residues. Fresh, clean, new tape will pull residue off very nicely. I've since used the method numerous times to get bits of tape off windows when taping kids' work to them.
Works great... Remembering that it's just a simple peice of glass, I'm encouraged.
Another thing to think about is that tape is far more likely to leave a residue on a non-flat surface. The flatter the surface, the less chance of gunk being left.
Here in TW, windows that are exposed to the outdoors are often badly pitted (coatings on windows are relatively new here and there's a lot of gunk in the air). It's much, much harder to get gunk off of such a window. It's also very difficult to tell the difference untill you put some soapy water on the glass. Non-smooth glass behaves quite differently than smooth glass to low viscosity soapy water.
Now the peice of glass that makes the low pass IR filter is pretty much going to be of excellent smoothness as it is OPTICAL glass.
Scotch tape is going to be used next time I clean my sensor. |

| Another vote for the scotch tape method. Just tried it. With about 3 minutes of effort, I removed all spots except for two along one edge. No doubt with more time I could get those as well. |
